Oruro, 19 de julio (RBT). Con presencia del Comandante General del Ejército, ayer se llevó adelante el acto de homenaje a los 41 años de creación del Regimiento de Infantería Andina 25 “Tocopilla”, Unidad Militar que se encuentra en el municipio de Curahuara de Carangas.
En la ceremonia estuvieron presentes el Sr. Gral. Div. Jorge Pastor Mendieta Ferrufino, Comandante General del Ejército; Gral. Brig. Iván Patricio Inchauste Rioja, Jefe del Estado Mayor General del Ejército; Gral. Brig. Rubén Salvatierra Fuentes, Inspector General del Ejército; Gral. Brig. Jorge Delfín Marañón Valdiviezo, Comandante de la Segunda División del Ejército; asimismo el Sr. Gral. Ejto. (sp) José Luis Begazo Ampuero, Viceministro del Defensa entre otras autoridades e invitados especiales.
“El RI-25 Tocopilla se constituye en la única Unidad del Ejército y de las FF.AA. en capacitar e instruir al personal de cuadros y tropa en la especialidad del andinismo, formando combatientes aptos para desarrollar operaciones en condiciones climatológicas adversas”. Afirmó el Tcnl. DEM Raúl Rogelio Guzmán Tarupayo, Comandante del Regimiento.
Por su parte el Comandante General del Ejército reflejó la valía de la institución. “El Regimiento de Satinadores Andinos 25 Tocopilla, lleva el nombre del puerto como muestra de nuestro derecho a la irrenunciable reivindicación marítima (…) las técnicas andinas constituyen la herramienta principal con la que cuentan las tropas de montaña para combatir y obtener ventajas del ambiente geográfico particular”. Reflejó el Gral. Mendieta.
En fecha del 19 de abril de 1978, por Orden del Ejército, durante la Junta Militar de Gobierno, presidida por el Gral. David Padilla Arancibia y como comandante de la Segunda División de Ejército el Cnl. DEM Rafael Tapia Montaño, se crea el Regimiento Andino «Tocopilla» 25 de Infantería, al mando del My. DEM Jaime Columba Vedia.
